A lot of people think that solar generators are highly complex, hard-to-make, devices that require a cross between an electrical and mechanical engineering degree. The simple fact is with all of the competition out there, the component prices have come down, the quality on many brands continues to improve and the directions are so simple almost any one that wants to can build one.
We held a seminar here at the recycle ranch and offered a high quality package that included a 120 Watt, 12 Volt panel, a 30 Amp charge controller and a 2500 Watt inverter with a 5000 Watt surge. The 10 attendees had to provide a battery, which I recommended was a deep cycle Wal Mart trolling battery that I have had good luck with. The whole package came in at $695.00 which is dirt cheap for a high quality 120 Watt System. (About 1/2 the price of other similar units) We even had a 5 Volt USB port adapter hardwired into the system to charge electronics.
